"Goodbye BAD BREATH" thanks to professional prophylaxis

It's not a secret that onions, garlic, numerous types of cheese, or strongly spiced food can cause bad breath. The same applies to alcohol and nicotine.

Other factors causing halitosis are less known. Bad breath (medical term: "halitosis") originates in 90% of cases in the oral cavity.  Bacteria accumulate in the interdental spaces, gingival pockets or other hardly accessible oral areas, as well as on the tongue surface. In these spaces, microorganisms, food debris and saliva components abound. Thus, foul-smelling sulphur compounds arise which lead to bad breath.

People affected often believe that they suffer from a stomach or intestinal disorder and take to gastroscopy as a remedy. This approach is reasonable, but it's a fact that our dentist can diagnose the cause as well and recommend the appropriate treatment. Insufficient oral hygiene, gingival infections, badly fitted dental prostheses, defective fillings, or carious teeth can trigger halitosis.

Professional dental cleaning instructions for an individual's oral hygiene with special attention to the interdental spaces and the tongue are effective measures to prevent bad breath and harmful bacteria in your mouth. Today, a wide range of special tooth and tongue care products are available in the shops. If you shouldn't be able to find a product that suits your special needs there, you'll surely find it in our KU64 "Smile Prophys" prophylaxis shop.

Children can have bad breath too. If their nasal airways are restricted (a phenomenon known as "nasal polyps"), they tend to snore at night. Their mucous membranes might get dry and become the ideal grounds for bacteria. The same symptoms could show in case of  tonsillitis, which can be diagnosed by your local paediatrician.

Bad breath should neither be considered a taboo nor a reason for a reduced quality of life. On the basis of individual prophylactic concepts, KU64 has been successfully fighting bad breath for years.
