CEREC stands for dental restoration made of high-performance metal-free ceramic. CEREC guarantees optimal aesthetics, long durability and good tolerance. In our practice, we use a special technique based on the high-end Sirona CEREC system. However, this state-of-the art device does not only offer aesthetic benefits: Under certain preconditions the completion of a ceramic inlay can be achieved within only one session. As a result, taking the patient's dental impression becomes redundant (as well as the usual provisional care procedure). Moreover, ceramic is the material which is most similar to the dental enamel.
At KU64 you can watch your dentist preparing your personal CEREC inlay. The tooth is milled into the exact shape to be adapted to the inlay. Shortly thereafter, an intraoral camera scans all defective surfaces to determine the precise dimensions of the inlay. These data are subsequently transmitted to a milling unit. Finally, the inlay is accurately carved out of a ceramic block by a milling machine, which is equipped with diamond-head cutters.
Please note: experience has shown that CEREC inlays are far more durable than an average german marriage!
